The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading blueprints, understanding material specifications, and executing precise welds according to industry standards. You will work with a variety of metals and welding processes to construct complex components and assemblies. Safety is paramount in this role, and adherence to all safety protocols is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities: Perform welding operations using various methods, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored Arc Welding. Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements. Select appropriate welding equipment, filler materials, and welding techniques based on project needs. Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and deburring. Ensure all welds meet strict quality and structural integrity standards. Conduct visual inspections of welds and perform non-destructive testing as required. Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, plasma cutters, and grinders. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures. Collaborate with fabricators and assemblers to ensure proper fit-up and assembly of components. Identify and report any deviations from specifications or potential quality issues.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with relevant welding certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, D1.3). A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a certified welder, with a strong focus on structural fabrication, is essential. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and a deep understanding of metallurgy and welding principles are mandatory.
