So you're eyeing cleaning staff jobs in New Zealand

From what I've seen, there's always demand for cleaners around here. Especially in Auckland and Christchurch. People move on quick or the work picks up in summer.

Where the gigs pop up most

Offices need them. Hospitals too. And hotels after big events. I know a few folks who started on night shifts in Wellington and stuck around for years.

Check Seek and Trade Me Jobs first. Sometimes Facebook groups have the fresher listings before they hit the big sites.

Pay talk - what actually lands in your pocket

Most start around $22 to $25 an hour. Not great but better than nothing. Some contracts throw in overtime once you hit certain hours.

Day to day reality

It's physical. No getting around that. But you meet all sorts of people and some teams are actually fun to work with.

Bring your own headphones for those quiet shifts. Helps the time pass.

Some days you'll be on your feet the whole shift. Wear good shoes or you'll regret it by week two.
