Q
Do I need a work permit for a packing job in Canada if I'm from outside the country in 2026?
Foreign workers require an employer-specific work permit for low-skilled packing jobs (TEER 5), obtained after the employer secures a positive LMIA at a cost of $1,000 per position. Processing takes 10-22 weeks for low-wage stream applications. Permits are issued for up to 24 months, renewable with new LMIA.
